Rantou Pro Wrestling (EPOCH Super Cassette Vision)
We’re playing the one and only fighting game for the EPOCH Super Cassette Vision, and it just so happens to be a wrestling game, it’s Rantou Pro Wrestling. WHO WILL WIN?!
“Home TV has become a Squared Jungle!” – Rantou Pro-Wrestling
Released in 1986 on Epoch’s Super Cassette Vision exclusively
in Japan, Rantou Pro-Wrestling was one of the very first
Pro-Wrestling games ever released on a home console.
The name Rantou Pro-Wrestling (rough translation: “Brawl Pro-
Wrestling”) was inspired by the popular Gaijin tag teams
(The Road Warriors: Hawk & Animal along with Stan Hansen
and Bruiser Brody) of the 1980’s and their aggressive
brawling style.
Unfortunately, with the success of Nintendo’s Famicom/Nintendo
Entertainment System, The Super Cassette Vision would be
a financial failure; leading Epoch to leave the Video Game
industry just one year later.
Out of the 30 original games released for the Super Cassette
Vision, only 16 of which were ported to the Super Cassette’s
European release. Rantou Pro-Wrestling would remain a Japan-
ese exclusive and would never be released outside of Japan.
